I hope you enjoy what you find here. I will be adding more free patterns as time goes by, so be sure to check back regularly or sign up to follow this blog. If you’ve made something from any of my patterns and you find yourself in a sharing kind of mood, I would love for you to post a photo of your amigurumi on my Facebook page. I’ll put them all together with the others in this album: Your Moji-Moji Creations I’m always excited to see what you made! (I can link the photos to your blog/page or shop too, if you wish, just let me know the details). Happy crocheting to you all!
Click below on the picture of the pattern you want. This will take you to a page where you can either download the pattern or read it in the relevant blog post.
Have fun with these patterns but please don’t re-publish them in any way or post them on your own pages. You are very welcome to post any images you like with a link back to my blog. I am happy for you to make and sell the finished articles from both my free and paid for patterns. A credit for Moji-Moji Design (Janine Holmes) as the pattern creator would make me very happy and a link to my blog or any of my online shops (listed on the ‘Pattern Store’ page) would be the icing on the cake!
I use US crochet terms throughout my patterns. However, it is easy to convert them to UK terms – simply refer to the chart below and substitute the stitches accordingly.
American (US) | British (UK) | ||
ch | chain | ch | chain |
slst | slip stitch | ss | slip stitch |
sc | single crochet | dc | double crochet |
hdc | half double crochet | htr | half treble crochet |
dc | double crochet | tr | treble crochet |
tr | treble crochet | dtr | double treble crochet |
skip | miss |
In order to keep the handmade love going please note that wholesale manufacturing of items from my patterns is not permitted. Thank you.

Hi there!
I currently don’t have any owls readymade and am a bit too busy at the moment to undertake commissions. However all my patterns come with permission to sell the finished articles so you may be able to find someone (maybe on Etsy) who will make one for you. I have made a note of your email and will let you know if I find anyone. Thanks for your enquiry 🙂

Hi Janine, if the other lady is still looking for someone to crochet an owl for her I can do it.

That’s great Mary. Would you be happy for me to forward your email to this lady so she can talk to you directly?

May 10, 2018 at 3:00 pm
Hamish the Hamster’s pattern is featured in Zoomigurumi 7. You can get a copy at amigurumipatterns.net:
https://www.amigurumipatterns.net/books/Zoomigurumi7/
I will also be listing it in my Etsy shop at the beginning of July 2018 if you would prefer to buy just that pattern.

Hello Janine,
my name is Frauke and i’m from germany. I want to make hugley the hedgehog. But i can’t find the perfect wool for it. Can you tell me the wool company and the colour of the wool that you used for the hedgehog? Thank you ever so in advance.
December 17, 2018 at 2:02 pm
Hi Frauke, I used Patons Eco wool chunky, and have also used Wendy’s Celtic Tweed Effect chunky. However I think these yarns are now discontinued. Any chunky weight yarn will work just fine though. There is a useful website called Yarn Sub that tells you what the closest matches are for a particular yarn. This is what it came up with for the chunky Patons yarn mentioned above:

Hope that helps a bit!

Hi, do you create custom patterns? I need a particular pattern that I can not find anywhere. Please save me!

Hi Ilaria, I don’t usually undertake commissions but if you want to let me know more about what you want it may be something I am planning on doing anyway and could therefore shuffle it further up my to do list. I am intrigued anyway!

I’m looking for your free pattern of the giraffe.
June 13, 2019 at 1:26 pm
Would you happen to have Bobbin the Bear as a free pattern? I like the chunky yarn and larger hook, but can’t seem to get the right dimensions to keep the bear fairly small. It’s a gift for a new baby. So maybe 12″ or less finished height?

Hi Janine, I wanted to thank you for your Dante the donkey pattern. And your Drake the dragon. Years ago my sister started to make a crochet Nativity for each of her four children to have for their children, when they came along. She did not like the animals that came with the original pattern and was not going to include them in the set. Before she could finish the sets she passed away and it was left to me to finish them. It has taken me 7 years but thanks to your Dante pattern, a camel pattern I found in another crochet book and creating my own cow and sheep I was able to give my nieces and nephews their Nativities last Christmas.
I have made 2 Drake the dragons and I am working on a third one right now. I make them for a charity that makes up kits for children who are removed from a bad situation and often have to leave their toys behind. I love to crochet and I have just newly discovered making toys. Thank you for sharing your talent for creating patterns.

Hi Colleen,
Thank you for inspirational message. I’m sorry to hear that you lost your sister. Taking up the baton to finish making the nativity sets for her children and grandchildren-to-be is such a beautiful way to honour her memory. I am sure your handmade crochet gifts will be treasured for years to come, bringing back memories every Christmas when they are unpacked and set up in pride of place.
Your charity work making toys for children in difficult circumstances is a lovely idea. Drake the Dragon has been a popular creation of mine and I love to think that versions of him are helping to cheer up little people who will need something to cuddle and call their own. I think your handiwork will put smiles on lots of faces.
Wishing you all the best with your future crochet endeavours! Janine
